NASA / Goddard has released high definition imagery of the Earth directed X Class flare (X1.6) which occurred on September 10 2014.

A solar ‘shockwave’ can be seen via this SDO imagery, as well as the long series of flares comprising this X class event.

For the record , we saw an Earth directed “shock wave” like this, from an X class flare in 2011, a few days before the March Japan mega-earthquake.
